New Creative Director in LOLA Lisbon

The current and potential work of the LOLA Lisbon office required the appointment of its own creative leader to assume the post as of January 2015. This leadership will be exercised by Gilberto Barros as Creative Director. As such, Barros will join Joao Alvim, Executive Director, and Helena Carvalho, Head of Strategy and Planning on the management.

“The three share the same objective which is to become another exceptional work front to grant even more value and reputation to our clients and to LOLA”, Miguel Simoes, LOLA’s CEO, explains.

“Appointing Gilberto is a recognition of his talent. He’s won our full confidence with his perseverance and effort; he assumes the most difficult tasks without his work losing any of its originality, and he always gives his best, even at times when you have to push, construct, reorganise, reinvent and even when you think that you’re going to enter panic mode because it seems like the idea isn’t going to surface”, Simoes adds.

Six months after LOLA Lisbon opened, the Portugal team has demonstrated the value of work it provides to local clients, such as SEAT and Unilever, as well as its ability to win new business, including a regional project for a multinational brand. Lisbon will be another strategic and creative value hub in our network.

“Above all else, he is the model of great work and we think he has proven experience with which to direct his own army. Giba is the ideal creative leader for LOLA Lisbon and the perfect “partner” for CEO Joao Alvim and LOLA Lisbon is the ideal place for someone like Gilberto “Giba” to flourish”, said Chacho Puebla, Chief Creative Officer at LOLA.

Before his stint as Senior Art Director at LOLA headquarters in Madrid, Gilberto held the same post at Leo Burnett Iberia in Madrid, and was Art Director at Ogilvy & Mather in Sao Paulo, Draftfcb Sao Paulo, and DDB Brasil.

“I’m very happy with the opportunity and the trust that Chacho and Miguel have placed in me. It’s time to put into practice everything I’ve learned from so many good people that I’ve come across at the agencies where I’ve worked and exploit to the maximum the creative potential that this agency has to offer”, Gilberto Barros said.

The new creative team will include Ines Meireles and Nuno Mores who, after having won a national contest, will be the Portuguese representatives at the Young Creatives at the Eurobest Festival of Creativity, which will be held in Helsinki in December of this year.
