You know what they say… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And so Estrella Damm continued their seemingly never-ending series of popular summer ads with ‘La música es cultura’ (Music is culture). Achingly beautiful people doing hipsterish things on a beach, listening to an overrated ‘cool’ band, drinking beer and kissing one another… Jealous, us?!

And God said: “Let there be 0.0% beer mixed with refreshing lemon juice, and let it be called Radler”. Well ‘Radlerluya’, the people rejoiced! And so did YouTube, as LOLA’s spot for Spanish 0.0% beer brand Buckler hit 1 million views within a month.

Radler was the difficult-to-pronounce word on all Spaniards’ parched lips this summer as all the major brands launched their lemony versions of the drink. ‘5 penta-trillones’ was everything a summer ad should be: fun, fast-paced and full of colours.

Cruzcampo launched their “doubly refreshing” Radler concept with this ad from the McCann Madrid agency, which showed the importance of cooling down with a Radler – in this instance after scoring the winning penalty for your football team. Emotional.

This is a bastardised, middle-aged version of Estrella Damm’s advert, although it is admittedly quite cute. A family and group of friends set up their beach bar in a city, celebrating their success with bottles and bottles of La Casera fizzy wine – how sweet!
