Robocopters play beautiful music
by LOLA
In this brilliant video from the University of Pennsylvania, flying robot quadrotors perform the James Bond Theme by playing instruments including the keyboard, drums and maracas, a cymbal and even a guitar.
The flying quadrotors, who were programmed by engineers from Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science, are completely autonomous, meaning humans are not controlling them.
Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science is home to some of the most innovative robotics research on the planet, much of it coming out of the General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception (GRASP) Lab.
The project founders, Daniel Mellinger and Alex Kushleyev, have since formed a company called KMel Robotics, which will design and market the quadrotors. For further information, click here.
